About

Who We Are

Established in 2021, Virginia Fair Elections (VFE) is a dynamic coalition dedicated to securing free and fair elections across Virginia. Our mission is clear: ensure the integrity and trustworthiness of every election at every level. At VFE, we empower citizens to educate themselves about election procedures and actively participate within the legal framework. As a part of the national Election Integrity Network, VFE’s local task forces operate in numerous counties, fostering a grassroots approach to election integrity.

Our Approach and Activities

VFE adopts a strategic approach encapsulated in our motto: “Be Right. Be Polite. Be Persistent.”  We also focus on in-depth knowledge of election law, which serves as the foundation for all our activities, including training poll workers and observers, fostering voter list verification efforts, and hosting educational workshops on election law and procedures. Our coalition believes in a collaborative approach, building bridges with election administrators and elected officials to enhance the effectiveness of our efforts. Regular interaction through platforms like Zoom allows our members to coordinate, share information, and consult with experts, ensuring a united and informed front.

Our Successes and Structure

Our successes stem not only from our core philosophy of respect, but also in our firm structure. As a member of the national Election Integrity Network, we leverage resources from national working groups focused on issues like vulnerable voters, vote by mail, and voting technology as well as other EIN resources. At the state level, we maintain strong coordination through working groups that run parallel to the national working groups (when possible, based on volunteer capacity) and by weekly coalition meetings that meet via Zoom. Locally, we encourage the formation of task forces, groups which engage directly with their registrars and electoral boards. Since our inception, VFE has successfully established numerous local task forces, provided a platform for volunteers to grow to become ideal candidates for local electoral board appointments, and trained over 10,000 poll watchers, significantly contributing to our year-round efforts to ensure that in Virginia’s elections it is easy to vote and hard to cheat.
