Letter of Authorization

Election Day
Authorized Representative Designation Letter

These documents are “Letters of Authorization” for “Authorized Representatives,” another name for “Poll Watchers.” They are used or intended to designate a qualified voter as an authorized representative for a political party or independent candidate. During a Primary Election, receive Authorization from any candidate during an election. During a General Election, receive Authorization from a political party or Independent candidate. The authorized representative plays a crucial role in observing the election process to ensure transparency and fairness. These documents provides guidance on the rights and responsibilities of the representative, including legal provisions from the Code of Virginia regarding their presence at polling places, the number of representatives allowed, and the specific duties they are permitted to perform while maintaining the integrity of the voting process.

Below you will find both the General Election and Primary Election documents. Please note the differences!
